Hearts midfield prospect Harry Cochrane has been speaking to The Scottish Sun this week about his fondness for Rangers and his dreams of playing at Ibrox.

The Scottish youth international is one of the outstanding emerging talents in the country having burst onto the Tynecastle scene last season.

Most notably he featured against Celtic at Tynecastle in a 4-0 drubbing, producing a man-of-the-match calibre performance to embarrass Brendan Rodgers’ side and end their mammoth unbeaten streak.

He’s gone on to make 27 appearances for Craig Levein’s outfit and while he’s struggled to get game time this season, he’s still a player thought to have enormous potential.

Interesting then that he’s been speaking so fondly of Rangers in the media, taking a trip down memory lane to remember a Gers clash against Barcelona before being asked what the best stadium he’s played at is.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said:

The first big game I went to as a supporter was Rangers v Barcelona in the Champions League in 2007.

It ended 0-0 but to see guys like Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry in the flesh was an amazing experience. That game has stuck with me.

It has to be Ibrox. Growing up a Rangers fan, it was always a dream of mine to play there one day.

The atmosphere was amazing when I went there with Hearts recently. It was just a pity we didn’t win.

Cochrane’s contract at Hearts doesn’t expire until 2021, by which point he’ll be 20. He’ll hope to be regular for the Jam Tarts by then and if he does realise that potential then Rangers should be first in the queue to give him a bigger stage to play on.

Losing a talented boyhood fan to England or elsewhere would be a big missed opportunity.

We’ll be watching his career closely!
