Laudrup, McCann and Messi – Gers star compared to greats and tipped to “make us millions”

Rangers cruised to victory over Cove Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday and, despite not getting on the scoresheet, there was a clear man of the match.

Scott Wright signed from Aberdeen in January and a few eyebrows were raised when the deal was announced but after impressing in cameos and reacting immediately to the intensity of life as a Gers player, he was given his first chance from the start in the Scottish Cup, which he grabbed with both hands.

Playing very much in the role that Ryan Kent normally occupies, Wright was given the freedom of the front three, he was popping up on both flanks and centrally as he pulled the strings for Jermain Defoe and Kemar Roofe.

Gers fans were hugely impressed with a player who will only get better as he adapts the shape and system that we play, early signs are good, although comparisons to Messi might be a bit premature…

It can take a while for wingers and forwards to be taken in to the hearts of Rangers fans but Wright has managed it after just his first start, a goal and another man of the match display in the next round against Celtic would go along way in seeing him stay there.
