This morning, Rangers announced the signing of Aberdeen attacker Scott Wright on a pre-contract basis.

The news was confirmed via official Rangers channels as transfer window activity gets into gear at Ibrox.

Sporting director Ross Wilson was quoted as saying,

“We look forward to Scott joining Rangers and we are excited to see him continue to develop his talent working with Steven and all of our staff.”

“Scott fits our football identity and our plan for the development of our squad.”

“Adding Scott, as a young Scottish player, who will continue to enhance his talent here, is part of our plan.”

“I’ve enjoyed all of our conversations and we can see that Scott is a very humble young man who is both determined and excited to be part of what we are building here at Rangers.”

“We thank Aberdeen for their cooperation and professionalism during this period.”

Now all that remains on that one is to see if a deal will be thrashed out this week between the clubs for Wright to become a Rangers player immediately.

Further negotiations are expected and as both sides are currently on amicable terms, an agreement is likely.

Cherry Picking

This news comes after weekend developments in which it was reported that Rangers have agreed further pre-contract terms with Bournemouth pair, Nnamdi Ofoborh and Jack Simpson.

Rangers had approached the south coast club last week, so talks will be ongoing in regard to those two players as well.

It has been suggested that the Ibrox club are prepared to wait on Simpson but would like to deal-in Ofoborh for the rest of this season.
