Of all the players whose contracts are expiring in the summer, Ryan Kent’s has to be the one that most fans would want to see extended. He has been given a new lease of life under Michael Beale and has taken the opportunity with both hands, showing once again why he is the type of player who can justify a £7million price tag.

Kent is also the one that is the most likely to get done between himself and Alfredo Morelos purely down to his relationship with his manager and the position that he plays in the team, however, he is also the most likely to attract offers from down south.

According to Fraser Fletcher, Football Insider’s transfer correspondent, Kent is being eyed by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany who is now boss of high flying Burnley in the Championship:

“The contract offer from Rangers is currently the best on the table for Ryan Kent despite strong Burnley interest.

“The winger, 26, is free to discuss pre-contract deals with his contract expiring in the summer and the Championship leaders have made contact with the player over a potential move.”

Encouragingly, Rangers offer appears to be a strong one, what backs this up is that Burnley are not known for being big spenders in terms of wages.

Ashley Barnes is their top earner according to Spotrac on £40,000 per week and, if Kent stays, he probably wouldn’t be that far off that sort of wage as one of our highest paid. He certainly wouldn’t see the sort of lift that Joe Aribo has by joining Southampton.

I would understand if Kent moved to a Premier League side or one that has been promoted if they made a life changing offer but that isn’t Burnley’s style. Personally, I won’t be losing any sleep over this one.
