His quality is proven, yet diminished with his lack of consistency as well as injury record but Kemar Roofe provides a killer touch like no other in the Rangers squad.

Usually accompanied with a cool head, when the ball breaks inside the box, the Walsall-born player is the one you want to have such chances as was the case in December at Easter Road with the penalty strike that won the game for the champions.

On Monday, there was plenty of images and footage released from training at Auchenhowie showing the squad in good spirits and an upbeat mood. Amongst the pack were those on the comeback from injury, like Filip Helander and Ryan Jack, as well as Roofe.

The visit to Pittodrie will come too soon for the trio but the Jamaica internation took to his Instagram account to give a feeling for his enthusiasm to get back on the pitch with his teammates.

With Cedric Itten now back in the fold after his loan with Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga, the friendly yet formidable competition will increase between the Gers front men.

Alfredo Morelos is the main man and the Swiss will be available from the bench in Aberdeen but Roofe’s challenge will be to claim a shirt for himself. Fashion Sakala presents a wide option as well as being a back up striker, whilst collectively they have to assume the responsibility from the team, club and fans to take the chances that will secure the points.

With the title run-in just about to get started, Kemar Roofe is likely to make a telling contribution, once he crosses the white line and is properly, back in the mix.
