Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is facing an anxious wait to determine the seriousness of an injury sustained by midfielder Ryan Jack during Sunday’s match away to Aberdeen, as reported by The Evening Times.

The paper say that the Gers midfielder is wearing a protective boot after a hospital visit on Monday to assess a foot injury, despite playing the entire 90 minutes at Pittodrie.

It’s especially worrisome considering how important Jack is to our midfield when he is on top form.

When he plays badly or is missing, the rest of the team suffers and with massive matches against Hibs, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Celtic coming up we really need our best players available.

It’s a tricky gauntlet of matches and Jack’s powerful midfield physicality and defensive prowess will be a real miss, even if someone like Ross McCrorie or Steven Davis can come in.

Hopefully the protective boot is just a precaution and the manager can deliver good news on his injury later this week.
