Rangers Managing Director Stewart Robertson has promised fans the club are looking to match the Scottish record for an outgoing transfer fee that Celtic set with the sale of Moussa Demebele, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Alfredo Morelos has hit an incredible 28 goals so far this season for the Gers and is likely to be a wanted man when the summer transfer window opens in a few months time.

Rangers fans clearly don’t want to say goodbye to the Colombian, but a £20m+ fee, like the one earned by Celtic for the Frenchman, would certainly ease the blow a bit.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, Stewart Robertson told a fans meeting in New Zealand: “We rate Morelos at least the same as Dembele in terms of value.”

That means the Gers could not only equal the transfer record but in fact exceed it, which would be a great vindication of our recruitment and negotiation teams at Ibrox.

Obviously there’s a long way to go before we can starting counting that money, but it at least gives supporters an indication of the ambition of Robertson and the other key decision makers at the club.

A fee of that size could trigger an excite raft of new signings that could bring the team to the next level in Scotland abroad.
