Pundit makes extraordinary Gerrard claim, it’s hard to really agree

|

Steven Gerrard has done a good job in his first season in charge of Rangers and I think you can say he has at least done what was expected.

Get us established and threaten Celtic once more and win a cup was probably the aim this campaign and it looks as though we’re on course for that.

We’re still in the cup, still in the title race and Brendan Rodgers couldn’t face the closing in of us so he jumped ship.

That’s upset that lot across the city, too, and Stan Collymore’s words are bound to potentially do even more.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he had this to say:

“The way Brendan Rodgers has treated Celtic has been poor and I’ve no idea why he didn’t just wait to join Leicester City at the end of the season.

“He’d have departed as a manager revered alongside all the club greats like Jock Stein and with few Hoops fans begrudging him a new challenge after winning the treble treble.

“As it stands, though, Steven Gerrard has more respect at Celtic Park than Rodgers.”

Certainly, Gerrard has got our respect and many of the footballing world’s for what he has achieved in his career so far.

The idea of him being looked on fondly by them instead of Rodgers is a nice one, too, but you can bet they wouldn’t admit to what Collymore is suggesting.
