Nicolas Raskin made his debut at Ibrox having only just met his team-mates and without taking part in a full training session once his work permit came through, however, there was enough there to suggest that we can get excited about what he will bring to the team.

The 21-year old reckons he can play as a six or an eight but his natural aggression and work rate will probably see him do his best work behind the ball. In 10 minutes, he won 4/4 ground duels, only missed one of 12 passes, made two successful tackles and completed one out of one dribble attempted.

Ideally, Michael Beale would have liked Raskin to form part of a midfield that can be kept fresh, an idea that was abruptly ended when John Lundstram went off with an ankle issue that the Gers gaffer feels a “Nasty one”, the revolving door on the treatment room doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.

What this does though is give Raskin an immediate opportunity to impress because Lundstram seems to be the most frequent option chosen by Beale which will also give him the opportunity to sort his socks out.

Taking to social media after the game, Raskin was obviously made aware by his own team-mates about the state of his socks and promised to make sure he looked less of a shambles next time he dons the famous Light Blue strip.

If he can reproduce his 10 minute cameo over a 90 minute performance, nobody will care what his socks look like – after all, Mo Johston got away with it.
