John Lundstram didn’t quite make the 10 minute mark on the pitch today due to injury which provided cause for concern for Michael Beale.

In a busy start to the 2-1 win over Ross County, the Scouser had sprayed a few passes, got caught short with another, made a couple of challenges and then with one attempted intervention, he suffered an issue that immediately rendered his afternoon to a premature conclusion.

Malik Tillman came on to replace Lundstram as the boss opted for a bolder, more offensive look to his team. It paid off at least initially with the USA international showing up well again and it was the Bayern Munich loanee who was picked out in the box by Todd Cantwell to glance a header into the net for Rangers opener.

After the break, Lundstram’s impact was missed more, with the visitors getting a foothold into the game but thankfully the three points stayed at Ibrox. Post-match, Beale was quite cautious in his tone regarding the extent of the injury to Lundstram:

“It destabilised us today. John is really important to our structure. He was fantastic in midweek. He’s gone to block a shot and he’s rolled his ankle. It looks like quite a nasty one. We will take a scan on that and update after 24 hours.”

If that blow turns out as bad as feared, it will be softened by the arrival of Nicolas Raskin who produced a very bright cameo in the final stages this afternoon. There will be time to react with Rangers having no midweek games for the next four weeks. John Lundstram could well be ot of contention for the next couple of game but more will be known after his scan, for early next week.
