Sack them both – Gers fans adamant there should be no way back

|

Rangers fans have always been a demanding bunch, your first touch in the famous Light Blue shirt can almost define your whole career with players often written off after just one game.

In one of the most important seasons in the club’s history we have already had to endure stupidity on a different level from Jordan Jones and George Edmundson and with Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey now confirmed to have followed their team-mates into a Police Scotland notebook, it’s easy to see why Stuart McCall branded them “thick”.

Vital Rangers held a poll on the latest Cover-19 farce and asked whether or not the guilty players should be given a second chance – a resounding 68%, over 1000 votes, said that they shouldn’t – and that their days at Ibrox should be numbered, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear were already unlikely to have their contracts extended.

Should the players be given a second chance?

Yes

Yes

No

No

My stance has always been that they should be given another opportunity but they have to prove that they are worth it, starting with demotion from the first-team squad.

Reports and social media rumours have suggest that it has been a small group of players and their partners having a night in to watch the boxing, not a party, and not mixing with anyone outside the “bubble” – this doesn’t make it any more acceptable but it is a mitigating circumstance, although Bongani Zungu, at 28, should know better.

What the poll does show is that the players have a long way to go to earn back the trust and support of the fans, if they are even given the chance that is.
