Michael Beale now has the luxury that the last few Rangers managers have rarely enjoyed, being able to choose from all three of his first-choice strikers.

Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak might not be fully match fit yet, however, their respective returns couldn’t come at a better time with us getting towards the sharp end of the season when trophies are handed out and we have as good a chance as any of winning two of them, the other, unfortunately, is out of our hands.

When the Gers gaffer spoke in January about targets, one thing he was clear about was that he was wanting to bring in a new striker in the summer, this didn’t appear to depend on Alfredo Morelos leaving either and, speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer journalist Dean Jones has suggested that if the Colombian maintains his current form, that an extension could well be on the cards:

“I think that Beale has got someone of a very good calibre here. He’s been able to turn to him in recent weeks to help him out and he has weighed in with a couple of important goals.

“If things go well from here until the end of the season, it wouldn’t totally surprise me to see Morelos being talked about for a new contract.”

I still think that between Morelos and Ryan Kent, that Kent is the more likely to put pen to paper on a new deal. It just feels like the time has come for Morelos to move on and this is his last chance to earn the big pay rise that we simply can’t afford to give him.

Despite Beale not saying anything, if we are bringing in another striker you would have to think that Morelos has hinted that he is not going to stay, after all, goal scorers tend to command the biggest wages and it would make little sense having two of our top earners – including Roofe – on the bench most weeks.

Morelos has brought us so many highs for a player who only cost £1million but it’s time for a new hero to lead the line.
