One thing that won’t be missed if Alfredo Morelos leaves this summer is the drama and speculation that he loves to create with cryptic social media posts. Usually in Spanish, the messages don’t always translate into English without an ambiguity that the Rangers manager could do without.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, few fans of the Light Blues now expect him to extend his stay despite recent rumours of a pre-contract agreement already being signed being wide of the mark.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge reckons though that it is only a matter of time before the Colombian puts pen to paper somehwere else, ending a six-year relationship with the club:

“I think with him, he’s been there a long, long time, and Rangers have, over those years, resisted big bids for him.

“But obviously, when your manager is critical of the player, the player is now doing cryptic messages on his social media, perhaps it is time for a break, ideally an amicable one.

“I certainly can’t see him signing a new contract, which would mean the end of his Rangers career. But obviously, Morelos posting cryptic comments so soon after Beale’s public criticism just strikes me as if they’re both going to part ways.”

I’d be inclined to agree with Bridge, Michael Beale’s comments about wanting more from Morelos won’t have gone down well. I’d imagine that he would look at his record since joining the club and question what else he can do, carrying the team on his own on countless occasions.

Beale wants us to move forward though, he wants us to be more dynamic and less of a one-man band and Morelos, for all that he has decent numbers since the manager returned, has not shown enough consistency in terms of performance.

Unless he commits his future to Rangers, or at least hints that he might, he will have to get used to watching Antonio Colak from the bench.
