For too long, Chris Sutton has ran roughshod over Scottish football, a history of disrespect to players, managers and officials. Turns out, he doesn’t like it when someone gives him a taste of his own medicine.

Michael Beale, speaking earlier this week, responded to a question about the pundit and failed manager and was less than complimentary about his time at his boyhood club via The Daily Record:

Listen, there are pundits that are comedy acts. There are ex-players who are comedy acts.

“I don’t even want to answer that question because they are comedy acts and they are there to create intrigue. They don’t speak about the betterment of the game, they don’t help our game at all.

All they do is bring it back down to the gutter. There are a lot of good things we can speak about in our game at the moment, at other clubs as much as in my club.

“I don’t think anything I do right in this second will determine that. Emotions run high, they like one player and they don’t like another, one scores one week and isn’t liked the next. It is the role of the fan.

Growing up, I was a fan of Chelsea. So there is one pundit around here who is the worst ever player to play for Chelsea. That is why I won’t mention his name because I try to forget him.”

All because Sutton called into question the integrity of the Rangers manager and whether or not he would show such humility against Celtic were a goal to be scored in similar circumstances to which Malik Tillman scored against Partick Thistle. We know who wouldn’t anyway – yes, you’ve guessed it.

Have a look at Sutton, playing for Blackburn Rovers against Arsenal and the level of sportsmanship to which the former Celtic man is accustomed to. Not that I’d expect anyone to but, I don’t think anyone will be taking morality lessons from him anytime soon.

Clearly triggered, Sutton, resorting to name calling, has spent the last two days posting on Twitter, publishing an article and going on about it on BT Sport, and he has the cheek to call Beale “thin skinned“!

Beale isn’t stupid and what he has managed to do, as already reported by Vital Rangers, is nip the situation in the bud when asked about the “spat” after our 3-0 win over Livingston, he simply said, with a mischievous smile on his face:

“I think we’ll leave that one where it is, listen, I love him as much as he loves me. Tell him that. Thank you.”

And the winner by knockout, in the blue corner, Rangers manager Michael Beale.
