Rangers’ Josh McPake has embarked on a fresh loan spell with an acknowledgement of its importance in terms of his career at the club.

Queen’s Park and the Scottish Championship is the destination for the Scotland U21 cap who is seeking to build on previous experiences at Harrogate, Morecambe and Tranmere.

McPake put in the early work to be ready for pre-season but he failed to make the cut for the senior squad camp in Portugal. He continued the close season period with David McCallum’s B team, but revealed a discussion with Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the encouragement that was provided to him with an instruction to make an impact with Owen Coyle’s said.

As reported by Glasgow Live, McPake stated:

“The manager (van Bronckhorst) said to me to go out on loan and you never know what can happen if you work hard. He said take it day-by-day and make sure I do well. The club is pleased with me and I came back in good shape in the summer. I’m pleased with that myself.”

“I feel in a really good place. It’s probably the most important season for me. I want to be a Rangers player so if I need to go out and prove myself at another club on loan, that’s fine by me.”

Challenge

The winger has admitted to the size of the task in making the grade at Ibrox.

A high level of fitness and a positive, diligent attitude will go a long way toward progression but at a club like Rangers with the demands in place as well as a serious budget to buy players, only the best home grown players will make the grade.

McPake is aware that at 20, he needs to be getting on, but he still has time as long as he can accelerate his development. Having recently signed a two year extension to his deal, the time is now to deliver.
