Rangers recently confirmed that young player Jamie Barjonas had signed an extension onto his current contract and that will now keep him at the club until 2021.

The young player has spent some of his formative years as a player on loan at clubs, but it seems as though he now has to try and prove himself in the next year or so as a capable player for Rangers.

Indeed, it’s a big period coming up in his career and, clearly, that is something Jackie McNamara is feeling too judging by his comments to Football Insider about the player.

He said:

“I think they’ve just given him an extra year to see if he cuts it, rather than giving him something long-term. They obviously rate him enough to give him a new deal.”

It’s a big period in his career and it remains to be seen if he gets another loan to try and show what he can do or whether he’ll be asked to prove himself under the watchful gaze of Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister.

Now, then, the real hard work begins.
