Ibrox has hosted some pretty big teams over the last few years, and on most occasions Rangers have come out on top.

Porto, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven and many more have all tried, and failed, to beat us on our home patch. Giovanni van Bronckhorst continuing the good work and building on the foundations laid by Steven Gerrard.

A European reputation has been restored beyond all recognition from the absolute low of Progres Neiderkorn, α distant memory when the Champions League theme tune rings out around the famous old ground tonight. Liverpool the biggest name to arrive for α competitive fixture, arguably, since Manchester United in the same competition over a decade ago in 2010.

Times have changed and Rangers have found α way to make Ibrox α fortress, opposition players and managers alike are now wary of it’s power – there is no longer an inferiority complex when the big names come to town.

There have been α lot of special nights in recent years, Leipzig in particular will always be near the top because of what it meant. It wasn’t just α win, three points or progress to the next round, it was history.

Beating Liverpool might “only” be three points, however, few would argue against it being every bit as special if we pull off α result that will live long in the memory.
