John Lundstram has sounded a motivational call for his Rangers teammates and the supporters to rally together tomorrow night against Liverpool in the pivotal Champions League clash.

On Matchday Four at Ibrox, Rangers really need to take points if they are to have any chance of securing third place ahead of Ajax and the Europa League knockout action that comes with it. Beyond that, it is essential for Napoli to do the business at home against the Dutch champions in terms of Rangers aspirations.

To have any chance against season’s beaten CL finalists, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men will need to find top gear, far beyond what they showed last week at Anfield when a distinct lack of belief and conviction resulted in a disappointing overall display. By the time the Gers found an element of incision to threaten Alisson Becker in the latter stages, it was too late.

John Lundstram acknowledged the requirement to put in a much better performance as well as the size of the task ahead. Even with a few injury issues to contend with, Liverpool are a top class side. From a personal perspective, Liverpudlian Lundstram will be determined to give a much better account of himself this week after his own underwhelming effort in his home city. He is a much better player than he showed in the 2-0 loss.

With last season in mind, he knows what Ibrox is capable of when the efforts of the players and fans are aligned, as stated at Tuesday’s press conference ahead of the match.

It is more or less a ‘nothing to lose’ situation that Rangers face, it’s time to turn in such a brave performance and roll the dice.
