As with many reported transfer targets at this time of year, the murmurs of a Rangers move for Kiril Despodov have disappeared almost as soon as they appeared.
The Ludogorets wide man has found his feet again, after a disappointing stint in Italy with Cagliari and he could now be on the move again.
Last week, reports emananted in Bulgaria linking Gio van Bronckhorst with a move for the 26-times capped, 25-year old, who was confirmed as 2021 player of the year in his homeland.
💰 Ludogorets have put a €5m price tag on Despodov
He was Stoichkov’s favourite football student and won Bulgaria’s 2018 Player of the Year award 🥇🏆

The Bulgarian top flight doesn’t seem a likely market for Rangers to be tapping in to and that sentiment has bben shared by journalist Pete O’Rourke, who told GiveMeSport:
“Despodov at Ludogorets is a new one to me, don’t know much about him, to be fair, but it seems he’s a speedy winger.”
“But I don’t think he’s top of Rangers’ list right now.”
Typical
Agents drumming up publicity, newspaper talk, online activity – all of which are typical of this silly season which is the transfer window. A couple of the actual names under consideration at Ibrox will hopefully soon be revealed with just five days of the month remaining, as the fans anticipation builds.
In the case of the Bulgarian, he has made six appearances in this season’s Europa League with one goal and one assist to his name, it just doesn’t come across as a significant transfer target to be getting excited about.
