The Rangers team to play Livingston in tonight’s crucial Scottish Premership game has been confirmed, with a massive vote of faith in Alex Lowry who stays in the side after his impressive impact against Stirling Albion on Friday.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team for the first home league fixture of 2022 is as follows:

Allan McGregor – James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Calvin Bassey, Borna Barisic – Glen Kamara, James Sands, Alex Lowry – Scott Wright, Fashion Sakala, Cedric Itten.

On the bench is  Jon McLaughlin – Jack Simpson, Leon King – John Lundstram, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack, Charlie McCann, – Kemar Roofe, Brandon Barker.

Rangers squad is lighter with the absence of Alfredo Morelos, Ianis Hagi and Steven Davis due to international duty and injury. Ryan Kent serves a suspension for the very harsh red card awarded at Pittodrie last week.

In addition, Joe Aribo remains on the sidelines having just got back to Glasgow last night following his time in Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Changes

An attacking 4-3-3 is likely with Lowry given license to get forward and supplement the attack.

Up front, a lot of responsibility will need to be displayed by Wright, Sakala and Itten in the absence of regulars Kent and Morelos. Their selection tonight gives them an advantage in the fight to secure a shirt for the massive Old Firm clash at Parkhead next week.

Kemar Roofe will have something to say about that and we should see him off the bench tonight.

Kick-off at Ibrox is at 7.45pm.
