Rangers travel to Hamilton Accies on Sunday in Scottish Premiership action and could be without a number of key first-team stars after the international break.

One absence is of course Kyle Lafferty after the club put speculation about his status to an end yesterday with a statement confirming he will not be available due to the Irish FA invoking FIFA’s ‘five day rule’.

Scott Arfield didn’t escape the international break without drama either having been ruled out of Canada’s fixture against Dominica after pulling his hamstring in national team training.

His absence is a big blow to Gerrard’s team given his recent form, scoring three goals in his last five games, and the fact that Ryan Jack isn’t quite up to full fitness either and didn’t appear in the club’s gallery of training photos earlier this week.

Another duo facing a fight to make the trip to Hamilton is Borna Barisic and Nikola Katic who both dropped out of recent international action too.

The full extent of the injuries will likely be made clear later today when Steven Gerrard takes his press conference, but it’s all a bit of a worry right now, especially given our away form in the Premiership so far this season.

Fingers crossed the situation isn’t as bad as it appears.
