Some Rangers fans have been left fuming by the actions of Kyle Lafferty after the club confirmed in a statement on Thursday that he will be unavailable for this Sunday’s clash with Hamilton.
His absence is due to Northern Ireland invoking the FIFA ‘five-day rule’ which ensures a player who has dropped out of international action without proper protocol cannot play for his club for five days beyond the country’s last fixture.
Lafferty of course dropped out of Michael O’Neill’s squad last week at short notice, leaving the national manager and plenty of pundits unhappy with the situation.
Unfortunately it seems that it’s all impacted Rangers rather harshly.
The coming week of fixtures is massive and given he is cup-tied for the clash against Aberdeen, it leaves just next week’s match against Spartak Moscow as a possible appearance for the striker.
Plenty of fans aren’t best pleased and took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
He should be fined by the club. We are now a striker short on Sunday. Gerrard is livid I hear.

No issue with this Northern Ireland Rangers Lafferty thing. The idiot couldn't be arsed playing for his country, now the ones who pay his wages suffer. His doing. That's the rules. We all knew them. He's let us and his country down again. It is what it is.

It’s 100% avoidable, if I was Gerrard I would be raging with lafferty

Lafferty should have handled it correctly and reported for duty with the injury, pretty sure Gerrard won’t be happy with him
