Aberdeen have sold less than half their ticket allocation for next week’s League Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden, prompting the SPFL to take back 5000 briefs for the fixture, as reported by Sky Sports.

Rangers later confirmed in a statement that more tickets will be made available to Rangers fans for the occasion, which will no doubt be snapped up in no time at all.

It’s a rather embarrassing situation for the Dons, who had insisted on an equal distribution in tickets. Sky Sports report they’ve sold just 9000 tickets of their 20,300 allocation.

For an outfit that likes to call itself a big club, they could and should be doing a lot better, despite the multitude of excuses they’ve hit out with over the last couple of weeks.

Hopefully we embarrass them on the pitch as well as off when the two clubs meet to determine who will face Celtic or Hearts in the League Cup Final.

These fans have taken to Twitter recently to mock Abedeen’s lack of support…
