Ryan Kent is Rangers second most expensive transfer and despite not being prolific in front of goal like fellow wingers Mark Walters or Brian Laudrup before him, he isn’t any less influential.

With just a year left on his contract though, a decision has to be made, reports that the board has sanctioned a bumper pay rise have neither been confirmed or denied but it would be a decent lift for the fans if one of our high profile and most important players committed to the club.

If he doesn’t sign a new deal soon then we will have to entertain the idea of selling him with long-term admirers, Leeds United, said to be keeping an eye on his situation, as reported by Football Insider:

“Leeds United are monitoring Rangers star Ryan Kent ahead of the summer, Football Insider understands.

“United have a long-standing interest in the winger, 25, whose future is in new doubt with 15 months remaining on his contract. A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Kent remains on the club’s radar despite the departure of firm admirer Marcelo Bielsa last month.”

Should Kent decide that he wants to move on, there is no reason that we shouldn’t still be breaking the transfer record set by Nathan Patterson in January, the benchmark has been set and at 25-years old, the former Liverpool winger still has plenty of time on his side.

For those that might try and bring his price tag down because of his lack of goals, Ross Wilson need only point to his performances in the Europa League in particular to prove exactly what he is capable of, although I’d still prefer him to be demonstrating it in a Rangers shirt next season and the years that follow.
