Rangers fans are well aware of the contract situation facing the club, Ross Wilson might be “relaxed” about it but the names on the to-do list are a cause of concern.

Between this summer and next, most of the first XI and key players have contracts that are due to expire and you would think that addressing this issue is the sporting director’s most pressing concern.

The good news is, according to Football Insider, is that Ryan Kent is one of the first that is set to be offered new terms:

“Ibrox sources have told Football Insider the club’s board have agreed to offer Kent a lucrative new agreement following internal talks.

“But they are likely to listen to offers if the former Liverpool star knocks them back.

“His current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2023.”

Kent scored just his third goal of the season with the crucial equaliser against Red Star Belgrade but, with 15 assists, he should comfortably pass last year’s numbers in terms of creativity.

Normally, a forward with just a few goals would be coming in for criticism most weeks but his contribution to the team is much greater than black and white figures, he consistently provides the spark in attacks and can make something happen when it doesn’t look like anything is on, Belgrade being the perfect example when he picked the ball up from ten yards his own half and finished it off himself.

Let’s hope the reports are accurate and that Kent will be around, tearing teams apart, for many more years to come.
