Transfer speculation will ramp up over the next few months about potential transfer targets with new goal scorers likely to be high on the agenda.

Ross Wilson will no doubt have a list of names being considered and we, at Vital Rangers, have been proposing a few names of our own – some new ones, others a little more familiar.

One of those was Lawrence Shankland, the Rangers supporting Dundee United striker who has found his feet in the Scottish Premiership and is now looking to nail down his seat on the plan/bus for the European Championships with Scotland in the summer.

He’s been linked with a move to us throughout his career, with a ridiculous goals per game ratio in the lower leagues causing Gers fans to demand that we take a punt on him, when you consider that we spent money on the likes of Eduardo Herrera, we maybe should have listened to them.

Interestingly though, even with Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe already in place, Light Blues supporters are split on the prospect of adding Shankland to our forward line with a poll of nearly 500 fans slightly against making an offer, even though he has just a year left of his current deal and could be available at a reduced price.

Would Shankland be a good addition?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It’s a sign of the times that we have recalibrated our sights in terms of who we think are good enough to make the grade for Rangers, there was a time when Shankland would have been considered as s first-choice to replace Alfredo Morelos, now we aren’t sure about him being a back-up.
