Is there room for Roofe in Rangers line up?

For a second, let’s just ignore that we have been losing stupid goals in the league and look at how else Rangers can win every game between now and the rest of the season.

I’m a great believer that clean sheets win games, however, you also need to score goals at the other end and we just haven’t been doing enough of that since the winter break.

With Fashion Sakala restored to the starting XI for the visit of Motherwell, we had a little more firepower in the team, however, much of our success last season was born out of being able to get Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe on the scoresheet.

Writing for The Rangers Review, Joshua Barrie highlighted how the latter’s absence from the team on a regular basis might be contributing to our dip in form.

Barrie is right, playing against teams that sit in and defend means that we will invariably play most of the game in the opposition’s half and dominate possession, Roofe is, arguably, our best penalty box finisher in terms of goals per minute and yet he has barely kicked a ball under Giovanni van Bronckhorst – it is his job to try to find a way to get him more game time without messing up our shape.

Dropping Joe Aribo into midfield is the most obvious solution but it would take a brave manager to line up with Ryan Kent, Roofe, Morelos and Sakala, our two central strikers are capable of dropping deep and perhaps this is the only option.

It’s a team that isn’t far away when you look at how many chances we are creating every week, we just need whoever is picked to start scoring more than they are missing – sounds simple enough doesn’t it?
