Sometimes you’ve just go to hold your hands up and admit when you’re wrong.

Speaking on The Big Scottish Football Podcast it’s safe to say that well-known DJ and journalist Ewen Cameron was feeling brave and optimistic ahead of the Premiership tie at Tynecastle, believing that his side’s impressive form was going to continue and that Michael Beale’s unbeaten start to his tenure as manager was about to come to a crashing halt:

“We’re going to end on Wednesday night, Rangers hopes of catching Celtic for the league title. It ends on Wednesday at Tynecastle. Rangers be prepared to lose on Wednesday night against Hearts. We are going to beat Rangers because we owe them one, Hearts are going to pump Rangers on Wednesday night!”

Oh dear. Cameron must have spent the second half of a very one sided game watching through his fingers as Rangers dismantled Hearts almost at will. In fairness though, the massive Jambo was full of praise for our performance, going as far as to say that it “could have been 10”.

Cameron wasn’t exaggerating either. Between Zander Clark making some top class saves, Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala straying marginally offside and the occasional effort that could have been more accurate, Rangers really could have been pushing for double figures and nobody would have been able to complain.

It was, as the podcast host said, the best 90 minutes we have produced all season, let’s hope it’s the start of something special and not a one off – that “pumping” will have to wait though, Ewen.
