Those writing off Rangers title hopes obviously have short memories, how many times has one half of the Old Firm been behind in the title race only to come out on top?

Six games into α season and already fans had been conceding the league to our city rivals, social media α cesspit of negativity after three games that saw us concede 11 goals and score zero in the process.

Speaking after the Dundee United game in which we really should have been out of sight at half-time, under fire manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst wasn’t quite as quick to write off our chances, as reported by The Glasgow Times:

“Well, it’s early. It’s six or seven games we have played now.

“There are still more than 30 games to go in the season.

“Anything can happen.

“We are here to give everything to become champions so we have to take it game by game.

“I’m confident we can compete in the championship.

“We will have to work hard to be champions in the end.”

It’s going to be another one of those seasons where over 90 points and probably around 95 is going to be what it takes to win the league, last year we would have made that sort of target but for individual errors in games that we were controlling, we weren’t as far away as was being made out.

That Celtic dropped three points the day after Gio said this proves his point, nothing can ever be taken for granted in this league, especially as we get into winter and conditions worsen, every week our opponents have α full week to prepare whereas we will spend most of our timer covering.

This season, the two-point gap can almost single-handedly be put down to Willie Collum sending John Lundstram off at Easter Road, these are the margins that will define this season but it certainly won’t be decided before the clocks change.
