A report in Rangers News has claimed that there are several clubs eyeing up a possible swoop for Ianis Hagi as the Romanian international – who signed on a permanent deal in the summer for around £4million –  finds consistent game time hard to come by of late.

The 22-year old has still featured over 20 times already for the Light Blues and with two goals and eight assists has been providing a valuable contribution in Steven Gerrard’s side and as a result, the likes of Sevilla, Sampdoria and Istanbul Basaksehir are all said to be monitoring his situation.

Hagi is obviously highly rated by his manager but there has been a shift from last season in terms of how he is used because of the other offensive players we have now, he simply isn’t needed to play every game but this didn’t stop Gerrard from singing his praises just a matter of weeks ago:

“Ianis is in a good place. He’s settled in Glasgow, his girlfriend is over now as well. He’s really coming into the place smiling, happy and enjoying his football.

“We wanted him in here full-time in the summer because we could see that quality, that ability. He’s certainly someone who we feel can open the door.

“In the past we’ve had certain games and certain phases throughout our journey where we’ve found it hard to break teams down. He is very effective (at that) and has been since the beginning of the season.

“It’s my job to make sure we try to keep him fresh and use him at the right time. He’s still young, he’s still developing, finding
his body. But in terms of the talent, we’re delighted to have him.”

Despite the claims of Rivaldo and the recent rumours, Hagi is going nowhere, he is settled, loves the club and has a huge amount of respect for his manager, he truly believes that he is in the right place to become a better player.

Will Hagi come good?

No

No

With Alfredo Morelos struggling for goals of late, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Kemar Roofe pushed into a more central role and Hagi given the chance to shine in a support role, like his Colombian teammate, he is simply too talented for him not to rediscover his form sooner, rather than later.
