Rangers have a couple of clear days to seal any last-minute transfers after the SFA extended the deadline due to Premier Cup fixtures, with one recent name being Midtjylland’s Evander who scored at Ibrox when we faced them a few seasons ago.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was coy after our Premier Sports Cup win over Queen of the South about the potential for new arrivals but, writing on their Patreon site, The 4th Official has claimed that we could well be looking to add a touch of quality to the midfield:

“I can confirm that the club are interested. To what degree the interest is, I don’t know, as I have not been able to find out the negotiation status despite trying my best. The sources who told me a week back that Rangers are in for Evander are the same ones who told me last night that the Europa League finalists are in for the player.

“However, I do know there were other players in that list, so maybe it is still a question of hedging bets for Rangers on deadline day as well.”

It’s one position that I think most Rangers fans would agree that we need someone, a genuine number eight, Ross Barkley has also been linked but Evander – valued at over £6million – would, probably, be the more attractive option given his age and profile.

Personally, as Gio also said, I don’t think this squad is far away, however, fans will look at the money that has been made in the last 18 months – ignoring the previous years of losses – and expect us to spend, Evander would certainly be a statement of intent if he arrives in the next couple of days though and might even put a smile on some of their faces.
