The Daily Record has claimed that Rangers recruitment for next season has stepped up in pace despite the transfer window being shut with Ross Wilson keeping tabs on Maccabi Haifa midfielder, Dolev Haziza.

Vital Rangers has previously pointed out that it is in our midfield where most attention is needed in the next transfer window if we are to maintain our current momentum over the next few years.

Haziza is highly thought of in his homeland and, as The Record reveals, was a recent player of the month recipient drawing praise from his manager, Barak Bachar:

“I just love his commitment. When everyone else is tired at the end of the game, you constantly see Dolev sprinting to win a ball in the 90th minute. He’s having a very good season indeed.”

It’s encouraging to read that a potential target has a decent work rate, when you consider the shift that our midfielders have to do every game – covering the defence and supporting in attack – fitness and endurance levels have to be sky high.

The report claims that a price tag of £1million would be enough to secure the 25-year old’s services who has 18-months left on his contract and despite being capped by his country, weirdly, he hasn’t played against Scotland despite us facing Israel nearly every international window for the last few years.

He has seven goals and five assists from 23 appearances this season and has the versatility to play either in the midfield three or in support of a striker.

The link comes from the player having an agent that The Record claims worked with Ross Wilson at Southampton so, it could be a bit of creativity from the paper, or he could be the next player through the door when the window opens, however, Ibrox “insider” David Edgar from the Heart and Hand podcast, has been told that there is no truth in the rumour – who to believe? The Daily Record, or someone who is friends with the director of communications…..
