After writing that Rangers were “one down, three to go” in terms of potential exits and fringe players, we may be about to see the second of those head out of Ibrox before the window shuts.

George Edmundson, according to Sky Sports, is in talks with Derby County about a possible move and if Rangers are able to get Jack Simpson ahead of his pre-contract transfer from Bournemouth then it could well be on the cards.

The 23-year old has fallen down the pecking order this season, not just because of the signing of Leon Balogun but because of the now infamous Covid-19 breach when he attended a party with Jordan Jones.

Jones himself has now left for Sunderland on loan and despite few thinking that he has a future at Rangers, the Northern Ireland international was given words of encouragement from Steven Gerrard.

Edmundson had looked to be a promising option at centre-half but with Simpson set to arrive and the other three senior players, who have performed so well this season ahead of him, his future definitely seems to be elsewhere.

Will Edmundson be back?

Going to Derby for the second half of the season would be a great move for all concerned, he would be playing in a decent league and putting himself in the shop window at the same time, something that could also benefit Rangers. we paid £700,000 for him and if puts in some solid performances, we could well turn a profit.

Just Brandon Barker and Greg Stewart to go then…
