The echo from the transfer window “slamming” shut can just about still be heard and yet Rangers continue to be linked with a couple of potential summer arrivals.

Speculation around who will be tasked with replacing Allan McGregor will run until someone is signed with Angus Gunn being the latest name but it is in midfield where there appears to be movement behind the scenes.

On Twitter, a Romanian Football site – referencing media outlet ProSport – has followed up on the report already covered by Vital Rangers that suggested we could well be back in for the midfielder said to have a £5million price tag:

“Rangers scouts will observe Olaru (FCSB) on the next matches, playoffs included.

“Negotiations between the #Rangers and Becali, for a transfer in the summer, will begin behind the scenes. Starting price 5M € . [ProSport]”

Against Partick Thistle we saw perfectly how the midfield still isn’t balanced. We’ve gone from one extreme to the other in that we were playing too many defensive midfielders now, we are playing too many who are trying to occupy the same areas in the final third of the attack and looking to get on the ball. It’s good having variety but they were getting in each others way.

A genuine number eight, alongside a keeper and number nine has to be the priority if we are the rectify a problem that is every bit as clear as the one between the posts.
