Rangers have secured two signings for both the short and long term with another two still thought to be on the cards.

The on/off Andreas Skov Olsen saga still has plenty of twists and turns ahead but for Danilho Doekhi, the road should be altogether smoother.

The towering centre-half has been a target for a while now and, on a free transfer, he ticks an awful lot of boxes – that we could fulfil one of his dreams puts us in a great position to seal the deal, as told to Dutch website de Volkskrant:

“My dream? Playing in the Champions League and for the Netherlands.

“I watch his game a lot (Van Dijk). I try to analyse on a detailed level how he handles certain competition situations.

“Players are never completely the same in terms of qualities, but I try to recognise things in his game that I could also do.

“But if I continue to develop as I am doing now, I think I can reach the top one day.”

Doekhi already has a lot of experience for a player of his age, in his position, including European football and it’s easy to see why comparisons to Virgil van Dijk might be made.

I’m still surprised that clubs in England haven’t been linked with when you look at how flexible Doekhi is to different systems, he is happy defending a large space or withstanding pressure in a packed penalty box.

Composed in possession, physically imposing and with natural leadership, he has a great base to build on, how far he goes is down to him – hopefully the next step is with Rangers.
