At a time when Covid-19 continues to affect every household on a daily basis, the latest news coming out of Ibrox is quite incredible.

The deadline for pre-registering for the £6.75million share issue is this Friday, however, there might not be enough to go around as revealed by Rangers in an email to fans:

“Many thousands of Rangers supporters have already pre-registered and will have exclusive access to apply for shares ahead of the public. The club anticipates that this Share Offering will be over subscribed.”

Some fans had doubted as to whether or not the figure would be reached given the cost of season tickets, MyGers memberships and the new Edmiston House inititiaive, however, not every fan has these overheads, with many not able to regularly attend games at Ibrox – this is a way for them to contribute in a unique way.

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

The club can’t rely indefinitely on the likes of John Bennett and Douglas Park to cover losses and this is just another method of filling the blackhole caused by the pandemic, whilst Celtic fans are holding their hands out looking for refunds, Rangers fans are digging ever deeper into their pockets to support the club at a time of need.

Self sufficiency and having Light Blue minded people at the heart of any decision making will future proof the events of 2011 to 2015 from ever happening again, that such a large sum of money is all but secured before a public sale speaks volumes about the lengths that the loyal Gers fan base will go to to protect their club from falling into the wrong hands again.
