Three games to go for an unbeaten league campaign and consensus amongst Rangers fans ranges from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Winning is all that matters though and Steven Gerrard is visibly annoyed at how his side has performed in the cups this season, and for all that the Scottish Premiership is won, standards will need to be significantly higher for the remaining fixtures.

The gaffer has a problem though. The Old Firm derby on Sunday has become an awful lot harder knowing that he has a host of senior players unavailable.

Filip Helander limped off in extra-time against St Johnstone which sees him join Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Leon Balogun on the treatment table, meaning that Jack Simpson will probably make his derby debut alongside Connor Goldson, the 24-year old has made an indifferent start to life at Ibrox but it is still early doors.

The lack of options in midfield is also a concern, it is something that has served us well throughout the season, being able to bring fresh legs on with no drop in quality, however, we just don’t have that luxury, Bongani Zungu’s suspension not exactly helping things either.

Probably the only positive against St Johnstone was the cameo appearance of Scott Wright, impressing again alongside Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, he has to start against Celtic. His pace, ability on the ball and movement is causing teams problems.

The players need to reset and go again, we may have only lost two domestic games this season but a third really won’t be tolerated given the manner in which we have blown what should have been a potential treble.
