In his six years at Ibrox, Peter Lovenkrands saw his share of success which included two SPL league titles and knows what it takes to be a winner.

The cult hero is fondly remembered for his injury-time diving header winner against Celtic in the 2001/02 Scottish Cup final.

The Danish international also had a red hot streak in Rangers memorable 2005/06 Champions League campaign, which included group stage goals against Porto and Inter Milan. He also netted, home and away, against Villarreal in the Last 32.

After watching Steven Gerrard’s side go 19 points clear at the top of the Premiership following the 1-0 over Celtic, Lovenkrands is impressed with the current Rangers team and believes it is within their grasp to go unbeaten for the duration of this campaign.

However, he did warn that the hardest part is yet to come and that they must prove they have what it takes to get over the line.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he stated, “  “I think Rangers will feel more pressure coming later in the season. I’ve been there myself and it’s tough.”

“You want it so badly especially when you are coming closer to the end of the season and you are still ahead.

“You really, really want it and you think it’s going to be in the bag but it’s all about keeping your concentration. It’s about hard work, hard work on the training ground and being prepared.

“It’s about being professional about yourself and following the instructions and all these different things, but I don’t need to tell the team that.

On the prospects of an unbeaten end to the league season, Lovenkrands added,

“I won’t say they can’t. Of course there is an opportunity that they can do that, definitely.

“They way they are going defensively, with just five goals conceded in the league, that’s quite incredible. If they can keep going like that, and defending the way they are, maybe they can go and do it.”
