For anyone that might be even the slightest bit sceptical about our recent signing policy, with the likes of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey seen as the way forward, you only need to look across to the east end of Glasgow to see how well it could pay off.

Jeremie Frimpong has reportedly told Neil Lennon that he has had enough of his mood swings – well, he’s had enough, I made up the last bit – and is on his way out of Parkhead and rumoured to be heading to the Bundesliga.

Now, bearing in mind that he has lost his place to Kris Ajer in their back four and has just one goal and five assists in 30 appearances this season, how much do you think The Scottish Sun is claiming he is away for?

£11.5million.

Now we won’t know the true figure of course until their accounts are released further down the line and the maths can be done – if, of course, you actually care –  but if they get anywhere near that figure for a boy they plucked from Manchester City’s academy just 18-months ago then they have truly lucked out, they should be thankful that Borna Barisic let him out his back pocket to fly to Germany in the first place mind.

Will Rangers start to see a profit on players this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It just goes to show that with the right scouting and recruitment, money can be made on players that don’t have any chance of breaking into Premier League first-teams and it is an area we should continue to exploit wherever possible, it is the last true marker of our recovery – turning a profit on player sales – and if they can get that price for Frimpong, imagine what we could get for players that are actually more than just a headless chicken.
