The guessing games have begun over which one of Steven Gerrard’s league winners will have to be sold to help bridge the financial gap caused by Covid-19 and provide funds for any new additions.

One of those likely to be in demand is Glen Kamara, the former Arsenal academy graduate being linked with a return to his old club, and – speaking to Football Insider – Alan Hutton reckons that Rangers would struggle to turn down any offers for the Finland international – if the price is right.

“Yeah. Of course there will be. Obviously he’s come through as a kid there and it’s not quite worked out.

“He’s maybe had to take a step back to come forward. He’s been absolutely outstanding for Rangers. I mean he is way up there in terms of team of the year, player of the year. He really has been outstanding.

“So it doesn’t surprise me that the likes of Arsenal are sniffing about him. I want him to stay, simple as that.

“He adds so much to the Rangers team defensively and going forward. The scary thing is I think he can get better. Again, it all comes back to if the offer’s right, Rangers will accept it.

“It’s going to be down to him, he’s still very young. He has a lot of time in front of him. I’d like to see him stay for another couple of years.”

Kamara is a hugely important player for Gerrard but as Hutton rightly says, it all comes down to what offers are on the table, we might not get the luxury of being able to choose who we sell.

The biggest difference now is that we have five or six players who are all worth an awful lot more than we paid for them and aren’t in the position we were when Alfredo Morelos was our only real asset and losing him would have been fatal, we also have a fully functioning recruitment team and one that can be trusted to find a replacement should Kamara return to his spiritual home.
