Depending on your outlook on life, Rangers are either struggling or about to give someone a hiding.

The last four games has seen us make 90 attempts at goal, scoring just five times. It’s easy to see what the problem is.

Creation of chances is always a good sign that your team is playing well, even if results aren’t perfect, sometimes it can be fine margins that affect the scoreline – for example, Craig Gordon got a few lucky breaks after making saves whereas Allan McGregor was punished for his solitary mistake.

The good thing about this Rangers team is that it tends to play better when there are more games and the return of the Europa League should see us raise our levels once again, that we have yet to get any points in this year’s competition makes it even more important that we find our form.

The continent’s second tier tournament has improved over the years to the extent that there are few, if any, easy games now and Brondby will be no pushovers, yes, we should beat them, but we will have to earn that right, how well we have done in previous seasons is irrelevant and needs to be forgotten if we are to make the knockout stages for a third successive year.

Lyon will finish top of this group, it is up to us to get back into contention for second place, with Sparta Prague facing the French side in their double header, the next two games will be crucial in shaping the final positions – it’s six points or bust, and my glass is always half full!
