Despite being top of the Scottish Premiership and in a league cup semi-final, Rangers fans are still far from happy at what they have been seeing recently, draws against Motherwell and Hearts saw four points squandered in games that were dominated, a sign that the corner hasn’t yet been fully turned.

And, as we all know, there needs to be a scapegoat, or someone to vent frustration at, at least.

Next up could well be Connor Goldson, who, judging by social media comments after he admitted that he hasn’t heard anything about a possibly contract extension, could be in for a bumpy ride should his performances drop or results not go in our favour.

The consensus that, if he wanted to stay, he should be banging down the doors of both Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson to get a deal signed, instead, despite being vice-captain and one of the first names on the team-sheet, we are expected to believe that nothing is on the table and that the club are quite happy to let him leave for free at the end of the season despite being at his peak and worth several million pounds?

These Gers fans took to Twitter, far from happy that a key player doesn’t seem to be that committed to the club in such an important season:

At Rangers, a player can very quickly go from hero to villain and Goldson has found himself fortunate because of the current situation, however, should another central defender – potentially his replacement – arrive in January, he might not be as casual about the whole saga.
