10-assist Rangers international in £8m Premier League link

|

Steven Gerrard recently spoke about how none of his key players will be leaving in January, which makes the latest speculation linking one of his stars with a move to the Premier League a little easier to take.

A report in Football Insider claims that West Ham United are lining up a bid for Rangers left-back Borna Barisic and that a fee of over £8million would be enough to secure his services.

At 28-years old, the Croatian international is in his peak years and has certainly been displaying the sort of form that would attract attention from teams in the top five leagues, with two stunning free-kick goals and 10 assists, he has continued his productivity from last season and remains an integral part of Steven Gerrard’s attack.

With Rangers paying in the region of £2m to NK Osijek, there will certainly be a lot of profit made if he is sold but £8m may be on the conservative side, especially if he has a good European Championships with his country in the summer.

Calvin Bassey has deputised at left-back on occasion this year but there has also been a rumour that it could be another Croatian that replaces Barisic in the shape of Marijan Cabraja, with the youth international confirming himself that the Light Blues are interested.

If we, as a team, continue our current form both domestically and on the continent, the value of our squad will only go in one direct and when average Premier League players routinely go for over £20m, West Ham may have to dig a little deeper to sign one of the Europa League’s best.
