Six-figure rated youth cap reveals Gers interest with move depending on key departure

|

Rangers succession planning looks to be continuing at a decent pace after reports emerged over the weekend that Borna Barisic may already have his replacement identified in the shape of a fellow Croatian.

The Scottish Sun revealed that Marijan Cabraja of Gorica has been in talks with the Light Blues although it is only the initial stages of any proposed move:

“It is true that Rangers are following me, contact has been established but it all depends on how the situation with Borna Barisic develops.

“I don’t believe that the Scots will pay as much as Gorica are asking for, but let’s leave that aside now, the only thing that matters to me is how we will play in Split on Sunday.”

Rangers business model is now in a position to finally start to bear the fruits of the initial investment from the board and players like Barisic, who have an obvious value and attraction to sides in bigger leagues, will probably be moved on to be replaced by players like Cabraja.

Will this be Barisic's last season at Rangers?

Yes

Yes

No

He is a Croatian Under-21 international and a product of Dinamo Zagreb’s youth system, valued at over £500,000 on Transfermarkt but the reality is that he would probably cost in same region as the £2million spent on Barisic.

The encouraging thing with some of the recent rumours is that we aren’t just looking at players in the SPFL or the English lower leagues and that we finally appear to have a solid and reliable scouting system headed up by a man that clearly knows what he is doing in the shape of Ross Wilson.
