Rangers to consider “suitable offer” for 26-cap star despite recent move claims

Borna Barisic’s “move” to Trabzonspor looks to be dead in the water, however, there will still be interest in a player that could find himself starting next season on the bench, if Calvin Bassey is still at the club that is.

The player himself accepts that if a decent offer comes in for him then he could well be away but, with two years left on his contract at Rangers, he is more than full focussed on doing his best for the club that pays his wages.

He has been linked with moves in the past though and he could yet start next season at a new club with journalist Pete O’Rourke claiming that a decent offer could well see him depart, as told to GiveMeSport:

“Well, this move has been talked about in probably every transfer window for the last couple of years.

“We’ve all expected Barisic possibly to move on, there’s been talks of moves to the Premier League and moves to other European leagues as well, but he has remained at Rangers.

“It’ll come down to fees, if somebody makes a suitable offer for Barisic, I’m sure Rangers would consider it.”

It’s strange having a current 26-cap Croatian international who is almost dispensable, he’s still a quality player on his day but there was a noticeable drop off in terms of consistency and productivity when you compare this season to last, although in fairness, he wasn’t the only one.

A fee of around £4million has been mentioned and, having paid just over £2m to Osijek for his services, you would probably say that it would be a great deal for the club if we could make a profit on him – having said that, some fans just want him gone.
