Rangers boosted in reported pursuit of £3.6m-rated international

Reported Rangers target Tomas Kalas wants a permanent move away from Chelsea this summer.

The Scottish Sun reported back in March that the Gers were showing interest in the 25-year-old ahead of the upcoming transfer window, having him scouted while in action on loan at Bristol City.

Latest reports today from Football London now suggest he is keen on making a permanent exit from Stamford Bridge having had a number of temporary loan moves away from the club over the years.

That could alert Steven Gerrard and Director of Football Mark Allen, who know that the club need to make defensive signings this summer with Joe Worrall heading back to parent club Nottingham Forest and Gareth McAuley’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

Kalas would appear to tick plenty of boxes for the club.

An 18-cap Czech international, the 25-year-old has excellent experience at English Championship level after previous successful spells at Fulham and Middlesbrough.

He’s been a regular for Bristol City this season, making 40 appearances as they narrowly missed out on a promotion play-off spot.

Currently rated as worth £3.6m by Transfermarkt, he’s also perhaps just within our spending reach and if he wants to leave then it puts buying clubs in a stronger position.

One to watch over the coming months.
