1/10 successful crosses, time for Gio to turn to experience

There is no point having a big squad if you aren’t going to use it and after the 2-1 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox it’s clear that we need to freshen up in a couple of areas.

The two obvious players who are nowhere near their usual levels are Allan McGregor and Joe Aribo and we have more than competent players who can come in to replace them but for me, one player who has flattered to deceive in recent games has been Calvin Bassey.

This isn’t a criticism because his level of experience means that he will have dips in form, however, we don’t need to keep playing him, we have a Croatian international sitting on the bench who is dying to get back into the team and prove that he is still the best left-back at the club.

Bassey will always put 100% effort in but he was culpable at Celtic’s equaliser getting caught on the wrong side of Calum McGregor and then stood ball watching rather than tucking back inside Tom Rogic, he needs to learn from these mistakes.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Back him.

Back him.

Sack him.

Sack him.

When we started looking for an equaliser we resorted to Gerrard tactics of throwing cross, after cross, into the box, at this point Barisic should have been brought on because this isn’t Bassey’s strength. One successful ball out of ten is a testament to this, what he is good at is what we saw in the build up to the opener, driving forward and then playing forward passes.

The fixture list is pretty intense over the next few weeks and nobody should have to play every game or think that they have a nailed down starting jersey, Barisic was dropped because he had made a few mistakes but he should be given a chance to redeem himself.

Barasic is weak like the captain. The captains crossing into the box, especially first half was atrocious. Bassey has more hunger, attitude and commitment than Barasic and Tavernier combined. The problem is deep rooted. The board won’t spend and we have a team of proven failures with no leadership on the park. Captain is a joke. We didn’t win a league, they lost it. If Celtic hadn’t had an internal meltdown it would 11 in a row this season. What will we do now? Sign more loanee failures and offer new extended contracts to McGregor, Davis and Arfield. Fight to keep Goldson despite watching him make basic errors week after week after week. Yes I am a Rangers supporter but now of an age where I’m not daft enough to let the club feed me absolute crap.
