No sooner have Rangers added John Lundstram to the midfield contingent than Steven Gerrard is linked with yet another potential signing.

Dutch Under-21 star Abdou Harroui impressed in this summer’s youth European Championships and has been the subject of interest for some time now with his Sparta Rotterdam contract ending in just 12 months time.

The Daily Record has reported that, for all the conversations that the club have had with intermediaries, there has yet been any real discussions with teams looking to sign their £3million rated midfielder, as Henk van Stee, the club’s technical director confirmed:

“Of course I do get lots of calls from intermediaries who say they are acting on behalf of clubs, but that is different from actual concrete interest.

“There is no offer yet. In fact, so far no club has come forward for Harroui.”

I could be wrong but I think we are set in the middle of the park, unless there is someone heading out the door first.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Glen Kamara but, like Harroui, there has been nothing concrete in terms of offers. The other issue we have is that Steven Davis and Scott Arfield won’t be around forever so signing younger players – if they are available at the right price – does make a lot of sense.

Ross Wilson has shown himself to be a shrewd operator in the transfer market since joining Rangers, getting the most out of every penny available, the signings of Fashion Sakala and Lundstram once again showing that he is a man that can be trusted – Harroui is the sort of player that would make sense though given his profile and the potential for a cut price deal and if there’s anything our sporting director loves, it’s a good deal.
