The proposed transfer of Bongani Zungu to Rangers has reached almost saga levels recently and the South African international’s move to Ibrox could be back on.

Get French Football News has reported that Steven Gerrard has returned to finally complete the deal after the 27-year old recently returned to action and proved his fitness.

There had been a variety of reports as to why the transfer wasn’t completed earlier in the window with GFFN claiming that it had been due to the condition of the Amiens midfielder, however, other sources claimed that it was because of the fee that the Ligue 2 side were hoping to achieve.

Zungu is out of contract at the end of the season, however, the French outfit were said to be looking for in the region of £3.5million to secure his early release, and because of this Rangers turned their attentions elsewhere.

Having been rumoured to have moved onto Daniel Johnson, Preston gaffer, Alex Neil, put a spanner in the works at the weekend by claiming that he is “99%” certain that there won’t be any departures from his club so late in the window.

The 24-times capped Zungu would certainly fit the mould and profile of player that the Gers gaffer has long said that he wants, one that would improve the first XI and one that hsa a dynamism and energy capable of lifting those around him – something that was greatly missing in the 2-0 win over Ross County.
