Quoted by Football Insider, Jackie McNamara has suggested that Steven Gerrard will have to take a simple approach in order to solve a selection headache with all the wingers at the club.

The Gers have been excellent so far this season in the league with them top by a couple of points from cross-city rivals Rangers.

Certainly, it’s a decent looking league table at the moment, but we must keep our foot on the throttle and Steven Gerrard will need to use his squad to full effect.

And, as quoted by Football Insider, former player McNamara has suggested that he will have to use the likes of Jamie Murphy only if he gets back in form, with him returning at last v Hamilton.

He said:

“I think he’ll obviously be happy back playing out, he had a long time out after getting injured on that (plastic) surface so it’s good for him that he’s back in.

“It’s a bit of competition so he needs to pick and choose what ones he uses at the right time.

“I’d just pick the ones that are in form to be honest. I’d go with form rather than their past performances, go on current form.”

It makes sense to play the players in form and Murphy is going to have to fight hard to get back into the side – especially with the number of players we’ve got in his position.
